By Trinity Cyrus | Aug 7, 2024

Vienna, Virginia – MicroHealth LLC, a leading Information Technology company, is thrilled to announce that it has achieved significant recognition at the prestigious 2024 Stevies Awards for Technology Excellence, securing three awards, including:

  • Lifetime Achievement in Healthcare Technology: Claude Hines (Gold)
  • Employee of the Year in Healthcare Technology: John T. Hayden III (Gold)
  • Team of the Year in Government Technology: Grants.gov (Silver)

These accolades underscore our commitment to excellence and innovation in both healthcare and government technology sectors.

Lifetime Achievement in Healthcare Technology: Claude Hines (Gold)

Claude Hines, the current Chief Operating Officer of MicroHealth and a retired Army Colonel, is the sole recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in health technology, earning the prestigious Gold Stevie. With a career spanning over three decades, Hines has made substantial contributions to medical information technology for federal agencies, particularly the Department of Defense (DOD).

Hines’ decorated military career includes managing the military’s Electronic Health Records (EHRs) valued at over $5B, deploying the EHR to the White House Medical Unit, and leading the Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) initiative between the DOD and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Under his leadership, MicroHealth has improved healthcare delivery for the DOD and VA by providing critical IT, testing, simulation, and EHR support. Hines also led the development of innovative medical training solutions for Special Operations Forces and modernized key platforms, such as the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of Pharmacy Affairs Information System (OPAIS) 340B Drug Pricing Program. The 340B program allows eligible healthcare providers to purchase medications at significantly reduced prices, helping ensure that low-income patients have access to affordable medications.

Earlier this year, Hines received the Acquisition Lifecycle Leadership Award by GovConnects, further cementing his legacy as a pioneer in healthcare technology. Hines is also the recipient of the FedHealthIT 100 Lifetime Achievement Honoree (2021) and a FedHealthIT Hall of Fame Inductee (2022).

Employee of the Year in Healthcare Technology: John T. Hayden III (Gold)

John T. Hayden III, Medical Training and Simulation Deputy Program Manager, has been awarded a Gold Employee of the Year in the Healthcare Technology category, finishing first in the nation. A retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant, Hayden brings over 22 years of military service and nine years in Defense Acquisition to his role, making significant contributions to medical simulation training for military personnel.

Hayden has played a crucial role in updating the Army’s Medical Simulation Training Centers (MSTCs), which provide realistic and immersive training experiences for over 2,500 soldiers at each site. Hayden’s expertise has also been instrumental in developing innovative training solutions.

Under his guidance, MicroHealth has helped enhance the effectiveness of medical simulation programs while also identifying significant cost savings and improved outcomes for military personnel.

Hayden’s dedication and innovative approach have set a high benchmark in the healthcare technology industry.

Team of the Year in Government Technology: Grants.gov (Silver)

The Grants.gov team has been recognized as Team of the Year in the Government Technology category. This award highlights the team’s collaborative efforts, innovative approaches, and exceptional performance in delivering top-tier government technology solutions.

As a central clearinghouse for over 4,000 annual grant funding opportunities, and with more than 9 million users, Grants.gov connects numerous applicants with 300+ federal agency programs..
