Compensation for Vietnam and Korea Veterans' survivor child with spina bifida

You may be able to get disability benefits if the below descriptions are true.

Your biological mother or father served in:
Check all that apply: (Note: One of these must be true.)

The Republic of Vietnam or in Thailand for any length of time between January 9, 1962, and May 7, 1975.
A unit in or near the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) for any length of time between September 1, 1967, and August 31, 1971.

Note: Your parent's character of discharge and length of service don't affect your eligibility for disability benefits relating to spina bifida.

Check all that apply: (Note: Both of these must be true.)

You were diagnosed with a form of spina bifida other than spina bifida occulta.
You were conceived after your parent first entered the Republic of Vietnam, Thailand, or the DMZ during the qualifying time periods listed above.

Covered birth defects include, but are not limited to, the following conditions:

Achondroplasia
Cleft lip and cleft palate
Congenital heart disease
Congenital talipes equinovarus (clubfoot)
Esophageal and intestinal atresia
Hallerman-Streiff syndrome
Hip dysplasia
Hirschprung's disease (congenital megacolon)
Hydrocephalus due to aqueductal stenosis
Hypospadias
Imperforate anus
Neural tube defects
Poland syndrome
Pyloric stenosis
Syndactyly (fused digits)
Tracheoesophageal fistula
Undescended testicle
Williams syndrome

NOTE: Conditions due to family disorders, birth-related injuries, or fetal or neonatal infirmities with well-established causes are not covered. If any of the birth defects listed above are determined to be a family disorder in a particular family, they are not covered birth defects.

You may be able to get disability benefits if you have a covered birth defect that caused a permanent physical or mental disability (a disability that doesn't go away) and both of the below descriptions are true.
