INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1: Select DIC based on when the Veteran died, then fill out the corresponding form.

If the Veteran Died Before January 1, 1993:

  • Compensation for Children without the Spouse:
    • Check the checkbox for BEFORE JAN. 1, 1993 — DIC for Children without Spouse
    • Select the total number of children from the drop-down select
  • Compensation for a Spouse with or without Children:
    • Check the checkbox for BEFORE JAN. 1, 1993 — DIC for Spouse with or without Children
    • If Spouse is entitled to Aid and Attendance or Housebound, then check the appropriate radio button
    • Veteran’s Info:
      • For pay grade, check the appropriate radio button and select an option from the corresponding drop-down select
      • Answer the disabled and married question
    • Children’s Info:
      • Select the appropriate answers from the drop-down selects

If the Veteran Died On or After January 1, 1993:

  • Compensation for Children without the Spouse:
    • Check the checkbox for ON OR AFTER JAN. 1, 1993 — DIC for Children without Spouse
    • Select the appropriate number of children from the drop-down selects
  • Compensation for a Spouse with or without Children:
    • Check the checkbox for ON OR AFTER JAN. 1, 1993 — DIC for Spouse with or without Children
    • If Spouse is entitled to Aid and Attendance or Housebound, then check the appropriate radio button
    • Veteran’s Info:
      • Answer the disabled and married question
    • Children’s Info:
      • Select the appropriate number of children from the drop-down selects
      • Answer the 2 year transitional question

STEP 2: Print Results

Click the “Print” button near Estimated Compensation to receive a printout of results.
